Hi Tim After exporting to

Hi Tim
After exporting to FDS, you must modify the input file by manual, because there are some error.
1. change "&MISC DATABASE_DIRECTORY" to your setup
2. setup your inlet and outlet &SURF
3. for inlet and outlet surface, change the OBST to OPEN(this is error)
4. setup your slice for checking
5. add sentence for export PLOT3D if you want to export from FDS.

Now, I think results of FDS can not imported to ecotect, you can use TECPLOT for this work.

FDS5 and a Tutorial

Hi Tim & Yun Peng,

I was planning to have full FDS5 export in v5.60, but I'm still having a few problems with writing out variable-sized grids. I probably just need a few dedicated hours to solve this, but dedicated hours are the one thing I simply haven't had over the past month or so. Hence I left it exporting FDS4 in the latest rc2...

I will definitely try to sort this out sometime this week and see if I can write an example tutorial this weekend.

Sorry for the hassle...

Kind regards,
Andrew

Importing from FDS...

comment posted by andrew :: 2 July 2008 - 1:51pm

By the way:

If anyone knows how to interpret the slice or 3D plot files file from FDS in C or C++, I am all ears.

My Fortran is terrible and the format specifiers in the documentation seem to make some sense - until I try reading the files. What I end up with bears no resemblance to what I expect so I'm a bit stumped for the moment...

Kind regards,
Andrew

Hey Andrew, anything new

Hey Andrew,

anything new about the tutorial on using fds(-export)?
At the squ1.wiki I can find "ECOTECT Tutorial: Export To FDS" which should be level 2 of the " Air Flow & Ventilation training module" but the only content is

"New Sub-heading Here
1. In the new Ecotect file, click on the Light button in the modelling toolbar."

That's it.
Do you know yet when the tutorial is going to be online?

Best regards,
Thomas
