Description
Hi there,
ecotect has great import features, in fact it imports pretty much every possible format; how come it can't export to anything else but other analysis softwares? It would be great if it could at least export back into .dwg.
Thank you.
Simone

Objects Not Triangulated.
Hi Simone,
The fundamental reason is that DWG, DXF and 3DS files all only actually store triangulated surfaces. Complex polygons are created from multiple triangles and simply not displaying those line segments shared with another connected triangle.
Ecotect stores complex multi-sided polygons as just that, not a series of triangles. Thus to export, it would need first to triangulate each surface. For rendering complex polygons in OpenGL, Ecotect uses glaux's built-in tesselation functions, so it has no available mechanism to do the triangulation.
Hope that helps explain why...
Kind regards,
Andrew
