QUESTION:
I am after weather data for a particular location, could you send me the data so I can use it for analysis please ?
ANSWER:
All the weather data that we have is provided for download free from our Weather Data page.
If the location that you require isn't there, our best suggestion would be for you to follow the links (on the above page) to the EnergyPlus weather data site for either US or International locations. They also have a request form that you can fill out which may provide data that they don't have listed yet.
If you still can't find what you need, then its a matter of either searching the web for data, or perhaps contacting the relevant government authority in the location you need the data -- in Australia this would be the Bureau of Meteorology, in the UK the Met Office for example.
The Weather Tool can import any format ASCII data as well as a range of pre-defined international formats, so it is very likely that any data you can find you will be able to import it and use it in our software.
When searching for weather data for analysis, you need a year (preferably a test reference year) of hourly weather data (not averages actual data recordings are best).
This will need to include:
- Dry Bulb Temperature
- Relative Humidity
- Direct Solar Radiation
- Diffuse Horizontal Solar Radiation
- Wind speed (not essential but preferable)
- Wind direction (not essential but preferable)
- Cloudiness
- Rainfall (not essential but preferable)
...I'm afraid if we had more data we would make it available for our users

Converting .csv files into .wea
Hi everyone
I 've been trying but I don't seem to find a way to do it: When one asks for .csv data at E+ site, something like 18-20 separate files are received, covering about 2 years or so (from the start of data gathering, until very recently, such as one month ago-as it can be seen from the dates). The problem is that, for various reasons, (technical or network mainly, as explained in the site) these separate files have gaps of 2 or 3 days between them-this is why they are separate: This means that, for instance tha first file contains data for the dates from 2-12 up to 06-05, the next one starting from 09-05 and ending to 23-08, and then again from 27-08 to 11-10etc., leaving, thus, some dates (07/05, 08/05, 24/08, 25/08, 26/08 etc) out.
Now, how can one fill these gaps manually, in order to create an even file which will then imported in the weathertool in order to be converted into a .wea file?
Thanx in advance
Weather Data Gaps
Hello,
Can you try to interpolate your data using a spreadsheet such as Excel?
There is a function in the Weather Toll that let you synthesize data, but I have never tried it.
