QUESTION:
I have made an ECOTECT model and would like to show different shading solutions. I found a very nice image on your web page that presents result in a very good way and I wonder if you could tell me how I can produce an image of the results like this...
ANSWER:
I have done a quick little model for you showing you the easiest way you can generate the analysis you refer to. To have a look please download it here.
In this example I have used the analysis grid.
To set things up, you basically just need to set the grid up in the right place (in this case over the window), I changed the grid axis to XZ then used the Form Fit in Current Axis option, making sure the offset was a little bit off the surface of the window -- say 20mm.
Then to run the calc. just use the Calculate » Cumulative Insolation function, setting the time period that you want to look at.
After running the calc. you can then adjust the Analysis Grid display, scale, colours and other settings to get it to look as you want it.
