Make ECOTECT location specific

QUESTION:

What do I need to make ECOTECT location specific ?

ANSWER:

Depends what you mean by location specific:

A) You can customise the default start-up latitude, longitude, time zone, currency type and dimensional units to be specific to your location using the User Preferences dialog box.

B) To set the location of your model site, you need to specify the right latitude, longitude and time zone for it as well as the type of surroundings (rural, urban, suburban, etc). You can do this in the Date/Time/Location dialog box. You can also specify a climate data file for use in the thermal and solar radiation calculations. This does not have to be an exact site-specific climate, it could be one from a weather station in the next town or even for a completely different part of the world (though it needs to reasonably relevant to the current site). To use a non-site specific climate file, simply select No when you are prompted to set the location to match the climate data.
